According to California Highway Patrol, on Tuesday evening around 6:55 p.m. on Columbia Avenue, just north of South Avenue, a 16-year-old female driver of a red Ford pickup struck a utility pole. The 16-year-old driver was killed, her 17-year-old passenger was brought to Enloe Medical Center with minor injuries. Speed may have been a factor in the crash. The accident occurred around 7:30 Wednesday night on near Red Bluff in Tehama County on Plymire Road, east of Mendenhall Road. Anthony Huerta, 25, was driving a Ford Focus on Plymire Road. As Huerta slowed to make a turn, a 17-year-old driving a Dodge pickup crashed into the car. The impact caused both vehicles to overturn. California Highway Patrol says Huerta was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the car. He died at the scene, and his passenger, Aubrey Rodriguez, 20, was brought to the hospital with a head injury. The 17-year-old was minorly injured.
