Olivia Rae Watkins, 17, a senior at McLaurin High School, was killed when her car left a roadway in Rankin County and crashed into a tree near Florence.

Rankin County Deputy Coroner Cliff Dunlap confirms that Olivia Rae Watkins was killed Tuesday (3-4-14) afternoon in Florence, Mississippi.

Rankin County Sheriff Bryan Bailey says that the 17 year old lost control of her car and hit a tree. The cause of death is listed as blunt force trauma. It was a single car accident. Watkins was driving a four door sedan.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Watkins was a senior at McLaurin High School. Robin Haney, Director of Public Relations for the Rankin County School District issued a statement this (3-5-14) morning.
