State Police say a 31-year-old woman has died after her car went off the road and crashed into a house in Steuben County.
Troopers say Desiree Fairchild of Caton was driving south on Park Avenue in Corning Saturday afternoon when she veered off the right side of the street and hit two utility poles and a house. No other injuries were reported.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
A 12-year-old girl was hospitalized with severe head injuries Saturday after she was struck by a car in Brooklyn, officials said.
The child was playing with a friend on 59th St. near 12th Ave. in Borough Park at about 5:30 p.m. when she darted into the street — and into the path of a Honda Accord, cops said.
The child, an Orthodox Jew, had stepped out from between two parked cars when she was struck, police sources said.
