Hobson Pike bridge was closed in both directions at Percy Priest Lake after a crash involving multiple vehicles.

Officials say an elderly driver had a medical issue and crossed the yellow line, hitting a car head on.

The woman then reportedly hit another car and the concrete wall of the bridge.

Two people were taken to the hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

The bridge is expected to reopen shortly.

A child has died and his mother was hurt in a hit-and-run collision allegedly caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Smyrna on Thursday afternoon. The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 66, near Sam Ridley Parkway. The child, his mother and his sister were outside their car changing a flat tire when they were struck. The suspected driver, identified as 33-year-old Tina L. Wilson, kept driving in a Chevrolet Cavalier after the collision, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
