Four people were injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in a head-on collision on state Highway 12 caused by an allegedly drunk driver, Santa Rosa police said Saturday. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Highway 12 at Melita Road, when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the center divider and struck a westbound Nissan Sentra head-on, according to police. The Sentra overturned and landed in the westbound lane with people trapped inside.

The only person seriously hurt was the driver who investigators say caused the wreck. Officers said they believe the woman was intoxicated. Dispatchers first started getting calls about her driving an SUV erratically about 6 p.m. The driver continued into Bellevue before she made her way back to Redmond. Police said she hit one car then, then another, after running over spike strips and crashing on Avondale Road. “The 30-year-old driver was actually pinned in the vehicle. She had to be extricated and was taken to Harborview.
