Four people were injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in a head-on collision on state Highway 12 caused by an allegedly drunk driver, Santa Rosa police said Saturday.
The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Highway 12 at Melita Road, when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the center divider and struck a westbound Nissan Sentra head-on, according to police.
The Sentra overturned and landed in the westbound lane with people trapped inside.
The Sentra’s driver, a 77-year-old woman, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to a hospital with a neck fracture. The front passenger, an adult woman, was treated for cuts and scrapes, and a 4-year-old boy in the back seat suffered a broken arm, police said.
The driver of the Mustang, 20-year-old Shannon Hullinger of Santa Rosa, was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. While she was there, police determined she had a blood alcohol level of .20, more than twice the legal limit for driving.
Hullinger was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into Sonoma County Jail.
