A Bedford man died after a car crash Monday afternoon.

According to the Virginia State Police, 75-year-old Michael Keen Haynes was driving southbound on U.S. 221 when he suffered a medical emergency, causing his 1998 Dodge Durango to cross the center line. The truck ran off the left side of the road and struck a guard rail. The vehicle then rolled through a residential yard before coming to a stop up against a tree.

The crash happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Virginia 122, just south of Virginia 746 in Bedford County.

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday afternoon after crashing into a tow truck.

Police have identified the motorcyclist as Craig Nolan Leggett, 50, of James City County.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. in the 8500 block of Richmond Rd.

According to Deputy Chief Stephen Rubino with the James City Co. Police Dept., Leggett was speeding on Richmond Rd.

When he made a left turn at the Anderson’s Corner intersection, he hit a tow truck that was crossing Richmond Road from a BP Gas Station, according to police.

Middlesex Co. Sheriff’s Office received reports of a single plane crash at 4:53 p.m. on Sunday, July 6.

A single engine 1968 Cessna 150 crashed on Lockley’s Creek Rd.

The pilot, who has now been identified as 58-year-old Stephen L. Myers, died from the crash.

A passenger was med-flighted.

The Federal Aviation Adminstration has been notified and troopers responded to the scene to investigate.
