According to the Virginia State Police, 75-year-old Michael Keen Haynes was driving southbound on U.S. 221 when he suffered a medical emergency, causing his 1998 Dodge Durango to cross the center line.
A Bedford man died after a car crash Monday afternoon.
According to the Virginia State Police, 75-year-old Michael Keen Haynes was driving southbound on U.S. 221 when he suffered a medical emergency, causing his 1998 Dodge Durango to cross the center line. The truck ran off the left side of the road and struck a guard rail. The vehicle then rolled through a residential yard before coming to a stop up against a tree.
The crash happened at about 3:40 p.m. on Virginia 122, just south of Virginia 746 in Bedford County.
Haynes was wearing a safety belt at the time of the crash, police said, and he was transported to Bedford Memorial Hospital where he died a short time later.
