Police say a pedestrian has been killed after being hit while walking on a sidewalk in Asheville.

Investigators said the crash happened around 12:15 p.m. Sunday on Kimberly Avenue, a tree-lined street in north Asheville with sidewalks on both sides of the road.

Police identified the woman killed as 66-year-old Virginia Senechal. They say the 29-year-old driver that struck Senechal is being questioned.

Authorities have not said how the vehicle ended up on the sidewalk.

No charges have been filed.

A motorcyclist and a pedestrian that died in an accident in Friday have been identified, according to the Greenville County Coroner.

The pedestrian who was attempting to cross Easley Bridge road at the intersection of Third Avenue when he was struck by a motorycle traveling west-bound on Easley Bridge Road, said Greenville County coroner Parks Evans.

According to the Evans, the pedestrian was identified as William Gentry, 45, of Greenville. The driver of the motorcycle was identified as Thomas Vento, of Greenville.
