Los Angeles, CAAn 18-year-old man was struck and killed on the 5 Freeway in Sun Valley Saturday morning.
The incident occurred just north of Tuxford Street around 4:20 a.m.
Police say the teenager, later identified as Blake Cook, was a passenger in a Honda Accord that crashed with a big rig. As he and two others got out of the car and tried to get to safety, the victim was struck by another vehicle.
That car then hit a second vehicle and sped off.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has only been identified by police as a resident of the Saugus neighborhood in Santa Clarita.

Orange County, CAA child is recovering after he was ejected from a vehicle during a crash on the 5 Freeway in Anaheim Wednesday. The driver swerved in an attempt to avoid a tire tread, lost control of his 2002 Lincoln Navigator and crashed into a retaining wall near Magnolia Avenue around 8:15 p.m. The force of the crash sent his 4-year-old out of the car, despite being strapped into a car safety seat. The youngster landed on a soft bed of ice plants planted along the freeway. He was transported to UC Irvine Medical Center with minor injuries.
