A teenager who got out of a car after being involved in a crash on the 5 Freeway early Saturday was struck and killed by a passing semi-trailer truck whose driver did not stop, the California Highway Patrol said.

The incident occurred just north of Tuxford Street around 4:20 a.m.
Police say the teenager, later identified as Blake Cook, was a passenger in a Honda Accord that crashed with a big rig. As he and two others got out of the car and tried to get to safety, the victim was struck by another vehicle.
That car then hit a second vehicle and sped off.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. He has only been identified by police as a resident of the Saugus neighborhood in Santa Clarita.
A 27-year-old driver involved in the second crash suffered moderate injuries
