Melissa Ratcliff was killed in an accident  with a vehicle on the 7700 block of Girard Avenue. She was the vice president of marketing for the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. She had just gotten out of her vehicle when she was struck and pinned by another car at approximately noon on Tuesday.

A head-on collision at Highway 246 east of Lompoc Thursday afternoon left a teenager dead and a 62-year-old woman critically injured, according to the California Highway Patrol. The accident occurred at about 1:30 p.m. when a Honda Civic traveling east on Highway 246 drifted across the solid double yellow lines and slammed into a westbound Chevy Malibu, said CHP Officer John Ortega. The driver of the Civic, identified as Skyler Kindschy, 17, of Lompoc, was declared dead at the scene, Ortega said.

Four people were injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in a head-on collision on state Highway 12 caused by an allegedly drunk driver, Santa Rosa police said Saturday. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Highway 12 at Melita Road, when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the center divider and struck a westbound Nissan Sentra head-on, according to police. The Sentra overturned and landed in the westbound lane with people trapped inside.

At least 12 people were hurt Thursday when a school bus with children on board crashed and became lodged between two trees at an Anaheim golf course, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Orange Unified School District bus crashed near the Anaheim Hills Golf Course just before 3:40 p.m., officials said. Aerial video showed the bus appearing to be bent down the middle where it was leaning against a tree. The bus driver had to be pulled from the wreckage. Three people, including the bus driver, were in critical condition.

A quick-thinking 9-year-old California boy is credited with saving his father after a snowmobile crash near Lake Tahoe. J.T. Bierdneau was severely injured when his snowmobile trapped his leg over the weekend. After the crash, 9-year-old Bode Bierdneau decided his only choice was to ride alone across miles of snow to get help. He admits being nervous and unsure of which direction to go. Despite having no cellphone reception the fourth grader from Marin County stayed calm, riding until he found someone with an emergency radio. From there he led rescuers to his dad.

Two Santa Rosa women on their way to dinner with their husbands were killed Saturday evening by a suspected drunken driver when his pickup rear-ended the sedan they were riding in as it sat in traffic on Highway 12 near Farmers Lane. Susan Hufford, 53, and her mother-in-law, Sharon Hufford, 74, were riding in the rear of the Toyota Camry driven by Randolph Hufford, 54, with his father Donald Hufford, 74, in the front passenger's seat when it was struck from behind by a full-sized GMC Sierra pickup, CHP Sgt. Erik Egide said.

Four people were injured in a suspected DUI crash in Oceanside. The incident occurred on westbound state Route 76 near Canyon Drive on Friday evening. A Oceanside police Lt. stated that the driver of a Honda SUV was under the influence when he crashed the vehicle into a freeway sign pole. The driver was hospitalized with minor injuries and was then taken to jail. Firefighters had to use the Jaws of Life to rescue three passengers from the wreckage. Two women were airlifted to Scripps Memorial Hospital. The third passenger, a man, was taken by ambulance to Palomar Medical Center.
