A mother was killed and her child was seriously injured when they were struck by a private utility truck Wednesday while crossing Durham Park Road near the Indian Creek Marta stop. The two victims were not in a crosswalk, and the truck driver is not expected to face charges. The child was brought to a local hospital.

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver after a teenage pedestrian was killed and another injured on Gordon Highway late Saturday. Deputy Coroner Kenneth Boose pronounced Zykeith Harris, 14, of Augusta, dead early today. An autopsy will be performed in Atlanta, he said. The second teen was taken to Georgia Regents Medical Center with serious injuries. The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying the vehicle that struck the two youths on the 1400 block of Gordon Highway near Dan Bowles Road after 11 p.m. Saturday.
