Ty Rylander, 20, of Pittsfield, Illinois was driving southbound on U.S. Route 67 near CR 1150 N., which is Grant Street in Macomb, when his car crossed over the center line and into the path of a tractor trailer. Rylander was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the wreck. The semi driver was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Rylander was a student at Western Illinois University, and University Counseling Center staff are available for students and other members of the University community who wish to seek assistance.

An Eastern Illinois University student has died and another was injured in a pickup truck crash on Saturday. The crash occurred near the U.S. Route 45 interchange of Interstate 57 south of Mattoon, Illinois. The pickup truck was heading northbound when it went off the road and overturned. The driver, Jarad Jarmon, was ejected from the truck and hospitalized for injuries in Urbana. The passenger, Samantha Middendorf, was partially ejected and later died from critical injuries. Law enforcement officers say neither was wearing a seatbelt.

A 25-year-old New Athens man was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle accident early Sunday morning. According to the coroner’s office,  McGovern was not wearing a seatbelt. He was pronounced dead at 5:06 a.m.

Police are investigating the death of a woman from Cahokia after she crashed her vehicle Saturday afternoon. Authorities say Brittany Allred, 25, was driving northbound on North Liberty Road in Jarvis Township near Troy, Illinois when her Ford Explorer veered off the road and hit an embankment, causing the vehicle to roll over multiple times. Police have not determined how Allred lost control of her vehicle, but they do say she was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. She suffered blunt force trauma to her head, chest, and abdomen.
