A Union County school bus driver died Monday after a collision with a garbage truck in Waxhaw. The crash occurred around 3 p.m. on New Town Road near Waxhaw Indian Trail Road when the driver of the garbage truck crossed the center line on a curve and collided with bus #334 head-on.  The driver of the bus, Timothy Jerome McManus, was pronounced deceased at the crash site. McManus had worked for the school district for three years. The driver of the garbage truck was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. No children were on board the bus at the time of the crash.

Linda Manbevers was driving southbound on Ehren Cutoff when she crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck a school bus head on. Investigators are unsure what caused her to swerve in front of the bus. She was airlifted to a medical center with serious injuries but is currently listed in stable condition. She was reportedly driving without a license and had no proof of insurance. There were no kids on the bus, and the two adults onboard were not hurt.

Cox lost control of her SUV and struck a school bus in North Columbus on Monday morning. There were no students on the bus when the Jeep crashed into it, and the bus driver was not seriously injured. The Jeep driver was unresponsive and was taken to the hospital, where she later passed away. It was later learned that Cox was a long-time Columbus school district administrator. The accident is under investigation.

A serious crash involving a Haralson County school bus and a pickup truck left at least 16 people injured Thursday morning. The accident took place on Highway 120 near Buchanan. The Georgia State Patrol said a Dodge pickup truck driven by a 17 year old female was traveling west on Highway 120 towards Tallapoosa when it crossed the centerline and struck the school bus head-on. Haralson County authorities at the scene stated that they transported 14 students and the school bus driver to Tanner Higgins Hospital in Bremen with minor injuries. Fire Chief Brian Walker said none of the students suffe

A school bus full of elementary school children was hit by a car in Rowan County Tuesday morning. The crash was reported around 9:45 a.m. on Woodleaf Road in Rowan County just outside of Salisbury near W. Ridge Road. The school bus was bringing back 28 students from Woodleaf Elementary School who had gone to see a play at the Norvell Theater in downtown Salisbury. A car crossed the center line of the road hitting the bus head-on. A second bus full of students was behind the first bus, but it was not involved in the accident.
