Philadelphia, PAAt about 5:20pm, a 33-year-old woman who has not yet been identified was struck by a tow truck so hard that she became airborne before landing on the ground. The driver did not stop to render aid, and left the woman lying there in critical condition with a broken neck. Though the woman was taken to the hospital, she died of her severe injuries shortly thereafter. Check back for updates.

Birmingham, ALNorthport resident Kenneth Dewayne Blanchard was walking on Interstate 59 after getting a flat early Thursday morning. He died when he was hit by a tractor-trailer whose driver fled the scene. The truck is believed to be a dark brown Freightliner Classic with a model year between 1991 and 2002. Benjamin Ramirez, 23, struck and killed by hit-and-run driver while walking in Escondido, California

San Diego, CAA 23-year-old man was killed Monday night in a hit-and-run crash just east of Escondido.
The victim, identified as Benjamin Ramirez of Escondido, was walking on Bear Valley Parkway near Boyle Avenue about 10:15 p.m. when he was struck by a white box truck, a California Highway Patrol Officer said.
Witnesses said the driver in the truck slowed down for a moment and then drove away.
Ramirez was taken to Palomar Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:44 p.m., officials with the Medical Examiner’s Office said.
