Rick Bogue was walking his dog Ember across West Camas Way at about 10:30pm when a motorcycle that he claims was speeding struck his dog. Although he was wearing a helmet, the motorcyclist, identified as Matthew T. Bacon, 29, died at the scene of the crash, and Ember died after being taken to a veterinarian. Bogue has said that while Ember was not on a leash at the time, she was right next to him and was not wandering, and that it was Bacon's excessive speed that caused the collision. At about 1:15pm, a 79-year-old woman was parking her car on her driveway, but either forgot to set the brake or it malfunctioned, and the car began to roll as she exited it. A nearby 17-year-old boy attempted to help, but both him and the woman were hit by the moving car and were pushed over an embankment on the other side of the road. The boy managed to free himself and sustained only minor injuries, but the woman was trapped beneath the door of the car and required extrication. When she was finally freed she was sent to the hospital with serious injuries and possibly hypothermia.
