Birmingham, ALA head-on collision occured between a tanker truck and a pickup on Highway 69 near mile marker 170, claiming the life of the driver of the pickup. The tanker truck driver was uninjured. Firefighters, EMA and Hazmat crews responded to the scene. Highway 69 was closed for four hours while the scene was cleared, but has since reopened.

Birmingham, ALA two-car crash on Highway 69 near Jasper claimed two lives on Monday night.
Alabama State Troopers say 34-year-old Jeremy Philips of Cordova died when the truck he was driving collided head on with another truck around 9:15 p.m.
The driver of the other truck, Jeffery Stovers, 50, of Jasper was killed as well.
A female passenger in Philips' trucks was transported to UAB with life threatening injuries. The preliminary investigation shows she was wearing a seatbelt, but the two men who died were not.
The wreck is still under investigation.
