A 40-year-old Macedonia woman died after the car she was driving hit the concrete barrier on an on-ramp to Interstate 271 in Northfield on Friday.

The force of the collision threw the woman from her 1999 Toyota Corolla, said Inspector Bill Holland, of the Summit County sheriff's office. She was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, but was pronounced dead. The woman's name has not been released.

Holland said the woman was northbound on Ohio 8 about 2:30 p.m. when she got on the ramp to the interstate. He said speed was a likely factor in the crash.
