Divers will search today for the body of an adult male who was in the truck with the boy and two others when it drove off a maintenance road on Billy Clapp Lake. The two other boys were taken to the hospital for treatment and are recovering. Two fishermen witnessed the truck go into the water around 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Foreman said. The fishermen pulled the first two boys from the water, he said. A Sheriff’s deputy and a Fish and Wildlife official arrived on-scene and jumped into the canal to rescue the third boy, who was not breathing when he emerged, Foreman said.
The family of a little boy who was the victim of a hit-and-run while crossing Koenig Boulevard Thursday is asking for privacy and thanking friends for their support. Amir Russ, 2, was at the intersection near Spring Brook Village in Kingston just after 10 p.m. when he was struck. The driver sped off, but witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored vehicle pulling away from the scene and traveling southbound on Koenig toward Port Ewen. Amir was upgraded from critical to serious condition Friday night, according to a spokesman at Westchester Medical Center.
