Driver Shirley Ann Stokes, 61, of Battle Creek and her passenger James Earl Stokes, 54, of Battle Creek were killed when their car ran a flashing red light and caused a LifeCare Ambulance carrying a cardiac patient to crash into it. The accident happened on February 24 at 12:00 a.m. on Garfield Street and North Avenue in Battle Creek, Michigan. The cardiac patient who was transferred to another ambulance also died moments after being taken to Battle Creek Bronson ER. The firefighter who was performing CPR on the patient when the accident happened also suffered injury.
