Granados was first driving east on I-182 when she was attempting to change onto southbound SR 395 but failed to negotiate the curve properly and went through the median onto the northbound lanes of SR 395 before striking on oncoming car driven by Ruiz-Alarcon. Despite the fact that Granados was not wearing a seat belt, both her and Ruiz-Alarcon were ok after the damaging collision. Ty Rylander, 20, of Pittsfield, Illinois was driving southbound on U.S. Route 67 near CR 1150 N., which is Grant Street in Macomb, when his car crossed over the center line and into the path of a tractor trailer. Rylander was not wearing a seatbelt and was killed in the wreck. The semi driver was wearing a seat belt and was uninjured. Rylander was a student at Western Illinois University, and University Counseling Center staff are available for students and other members of the University community who wish to seek assistance.
