A driver, whose vehicle veered off the road and plunged through brambles into a creek front first, had to be extricated in a tricky emergency operation. The car dove into the creek in the 6700 block of 35th Avenue Northeast, north of Keizer, about 10:30 a.m. Fire crews were called to the scene to rescue the driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. Before they could get him out of the car, they had to clear the tangle of brush from the hillside. Crews used ladders to climb down to the car. Within 10 minutes, emergency personnel got him out.

Three people were taken to local hospitals Tuesday afternoon after two cars collided head-on. It happened around 2:30 p.m. at East Raymond Street and South Meridian Street, which is on the city’s south side. Indianapolis fire officials say a red pickup truck was driving west on East Raymond Street but was driving in the east lanes when it hit a Chevy Suburban. The passenger was initially trapped inside the Suburban. That person, and both drivers were taken to the hospital. Details on their injuries were not immediately released. IMPD was investigating the crash on Tuesday.

Police in D.C. are on the scene of an accident involving a pedestrian and a garbage truck. Rescue crews had to pull the victim from underneath the truck after they became trapped by the truck's rear wheels. Police say the accident happened just after 5 a.m. Friday on 13th Street NW between H Street and New York Avenue. Cameras showed the front end of the truck on the sidewalk, police believe the driver may have been trying to back into an alley. The victim's condition is not known at this time. The driver of the truck remained on the scene.

A Monroe man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after crashing his car in Green County, the Wisconsin State Journal reports. Matthew Putz, 20, had to be exctricated after crashing on Highway 81 about 9:30 p.m. Thursday.

A woman has died after the car she was driving crashed head-on with a garbage truck south of St. Charles, the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department reports. The crash happened about 10:17 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, on highway M-52, also known as Graham, south of St. Charles and north of Ring, Saginaw County Central Dispatch reports. "A Billy's trash truck was involved and that was going southbound when a northbound vehicle came around the curve and went into the southbound lane and hit the truck head-on," a Saginaw County Sheriff's Department Sgt. Mark said.

Two people have been injured in a car crash in Ocala on Thursday morning after a pickup truck hit a power pole and overturned. SW 20th Street was shut down as police investigated the crash, which had two people trapped inside the pickup truck for hours. The crash occurred just before 5 a.m. and it took nearly two hours each to extricate both victims out of the vehicle. The victims were taken to Ocala Regional Trauma Center.

One person is dead and another is injured after their vehicle crashed and overturned late Tuesday. According to the Fayette County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to the 2000 block of Brock Road in Paint Township, at about 9:49 p.m. Tuesday, on the report of a crash. Deputies said, when they arrived on scene, they found a 2006 Ford F-Series pickup truck overturned in a streamline near the roadway.

A mother has been charged with driving under the influence after her two young children were killed in a car crash, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Troopers said Melissa Patton, 32, is charged with two counts of felony driving under the influence and driving under suspension. According to troopers, Patton was driving a car at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday on Wells Highway when the car traveled off the road, hit a church sign and overturned.

Officials continue to investigate a crash in east Orange County that closed southbound lanes of a busy road. Orange County Fire Rescue said the crash occurred just before 11 a.m. Monday on Goldenrod Road at Valencia College Lane. A 32-year-old man was trapped inside a vehicle and was later taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

A fatal crash on the northbound lanes of I-295 in the District shut down traffic along a stretch of that interstate earlier Tuesday morning. Continue reading Police said they responded to a call for the accident at 11:46 p.m. Monday night. A police spokesman said the victim was an adult male whose Chevrolet Camaro rolled over into a wooded area near the road. He was found unresponsive by officers and had to be extricated from the car. The victim was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was declared dead shortly after midnight on Tuesday.
