Man killed when his car leaves road and rolls over in Washington, D.C.

A fatal crash on the northbound lanes of I-295 in the District shut down traffic along a stretch of that interstate earlier Tuesday morning. Continue reading Police said they responded to a call for the accident at 11:46 p.m. Monday night. A police spokesman said the victim was an adult male whose Chevrolet Camaro rolled over into a wooded area near the road. He was found unresponsive by officers and had to be extricated from the car. The victim was transported to Prince George's Hospital Center, where he was declared dead shortly after midnight on Tuesday. The D.C. Police Department's major crash investigated the incident, closing the northbound stretch of I-295 between Pennsylvania Avenue and East Capitol Street. That stretch was reopened at 7:45 a.m. Tuesday.
