A 3-year-old boy died and two other people were seriously hurt Saturday when their car ran off a highway in Ste. Genevieve County and hit an embankment, authorities said. The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the boy as Gabriel D. Ratliff, of St. Mary, Mo. Seriously injured were Brandon D. Ratliff, 24, of Farmington, Mo., and Michael A. Ratliff, 1, also of St. Mary.

A 19-month-old boy and a 24-year-old man were killed in a single-vehicle crash in Athens County Friday afternoon. According to the Athens Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the crash involved one vehicle along state Route 56 in Athens County at about 12:44 p.m. Investigators said a 1999 Nissan pick-up truck was traveling westbound on S.R. 56 when the driver traveled off the left side of the road and struck a tree. A child was restrained in a child safety seat, and the driver was ejected and sustained serious, life-threatening injuries.

At least 12 people were hurt Thursday when a school bus with children on board crashed and became lodged between two trees at an Anaheim golf course, according to the California Highway Patrol. The Orange Unified School District bus crashed near the Anaheim Hills Golf Course just before 3:40 p.m., officials said. Aerial video showed the bus appearing to be bent down the middle where it was leaning against a tree. The bus driver had to be pulled from the wreckage. Three people, including the bus driver, were in critical condition.

Two students were injured when their school bus went airborne and crashed Monday afternoon in Hickman County. The bus was on its way from Hickman County Middle School with eight students on board about 4 p.m. when the driver apparently lost control along Primm Springs Road near Williamsport. Sheriff Randal Ward said the bus struck a concrete culvert and came to a rest when it hit a patch of small trees. One student, later identified as Demetria Barner, 17, was transported by medical helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and another was taken to Vanderbilt by ground ambulance.

An El Reno man died Sunday morning after his sports utility vehicle crashed in Sequoyah County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. About 8 a.m., Timothy Davis, 48, was traveling east on Interstate 40 about a mile from the Roland exit. The front tire on the passenger side on the SUV he was driving had a blowout, and the vehicle went off the road to the right and struck two trees, troopers said. Davis, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene, troopers said.

Kentucky State Police are investigating an accident near Lebanon, Kentucky which left one woman dead Sunday morning. Police say 62-year-old Ann Mattingly was traveling east on KY 84 when she lost control of her vehicle just before 10 a.m. They say Mattingly dropped off the shoulder, over-corrected, leaving the roadway striking a tree. Mattingly was pronounced dead on the scene. There were no other injuries reported.

Maryland State Police said they were investigating a fatal accident Wednesday morning in Prince George’s County, as officials throughout the area warned drivers to slow down because of icy road conditions caused when Tuesday night’s snow melted and freezing temperatures made roads slick. The fatal accident occurred around 5 a.m. on the westbound side of Route 214 and St. Michaels Drive in Kettering, where police responded to a report of an overturned 1994 Dodge pick-up truck on the road. The driver, an adult male, was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

Floyd County police say the car driven by 20-year-old Joseph Fischer of New Albany went off the highway Tuesday night. Fischer walked away from that crash and for unknown reasons went into the travel lanes of I-64 where he was fatally struck by a car. That driver stopped immediately after the collision, and police say no charges are expected to be filed against the motorist.

Idaho state police say one child was injured in a school bus crash around the Idaho County town of Riggins. The one-vehicle crash occurred around 5:30 p.m. Thursday on a road in the area, located about 125 miles south of Coeur d'Alene. Police say 66-year-old driver Larry C. Barnard was carrying seven children on his bus when he was distracted by one of them. The vehicle drifted left and as the driver corrected to the right, tires went off the road and the bus eventually rolled on its right side.

An accident involving a school bus in Union County sent more than 20 students to the hospital with minor injuries, according to troopers and emergency responders. The accident happened at 7:27 a.m. at Whitlock Lake Road and Morris Farm Road near Jonesville, troopers said. Troopers said the 1988 Freightliner school bus was traveling south on Whitlock Lake Road, when it ran off the right side of road and hit a tree. Union County Emergency Services director Ronnie Robertson confirmed six students were taken to Wallace Thompson Hospital in Union.
