An accident in the northbound lanes of Highway 101 at De La Cruz Blvd left one dead early Tuesday morning. Witness accounts to California Highway Patrol indicate that a white pickup truck struck a while sedan that was stalled near the center median after midnight. The collision forced the sedan across all lanes of traffic and into a wall, and the sedan burst into flames, trapping the driver. The driver could not be rescued and was killed. The pickup driver was not injured in the crash and was cooperating with police.

A fiery crash left one dead on Interstate 580 early Friday morning. At around 4:20 a.m., an eastbound Kia sedan overturned and caught fire near the 164th Avenue offramp. Both the Kia's driver, a 32-year-old Fremont man, and his passenger, a 25-year-old San Francisco woman, identified as Danielle Reyes, were ejected. Reyes pronounced dead at the scene and the man sustained major injuries. At this point, a 2006 Honda Pilot traveling east on I-580 struck the Kia, which caused the first vehicle to burst into flames.

A motorist who rear-ended and killed another driver on Interstate 580 in Livermore on Thursday was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter, authorities said. The collision happened shortly after 10 a.m., when Primitivo Garcia, 53, of Livermore failed to slow his Hummer for traffic and rear-ended a Jeep, causing the Jeep to burst into flames in the westbound lanes near North Livermore Avenue, said the CHP.
