A 38-year-old man driving on a suspended license struck and critically injured a pedestrian with a van Tuesday night in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, police said. The man was driving a 2000 Dodge van north on Pulaski Road about 8 p.m. when the vehicle hit the pedestrian crossing the street at the intersection with Van Buren Street, police said. The pedestrian, a 34-year-old man, was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident, police said. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

A man and five children were hurt in a single-vehicle crash Friday on the Far South Side. A 2000 Ford Expedition was travelling west on 103rd Street about 9:50 a.m. when it turned right onto South Cottage Grove Avenue, lost control and hit a light pole, police said. The driver, an 18-year-old man, and four girls–a 6-year-old, a 7-year-old and two 14-year-olds–were taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, police said. A 3-year-old girl was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in good condition, police said.
