The teen attempted to pass Vogel as they merged onto Interstate 57 and struck the semi-trailer of A.G. Franks, a 58 of Hayti, Missouri, that was traveling on Interstate 57. The teen lost control and then struck Vogel's semi as well.

All three vehicles came to rest on the right shoulder. The teen driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries., police said.
