Friday, March 20, 2015A 12-year-old boy sustained critical injuries when he was hit by a car while getting on the school bus Friday morning. David Newman was getting on a school bus at 6:49 a.m. March 20 at F. Drive South in Eckford Township when he was hit by an eastbound vehicle driven by 24-year-old Earl J. Shepherd III of Marshall. David was airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo where he is listed in critical condition. It is not known if charges will be filed.

Friday, January 16, 2015Forest Hills Central freshman Lucas Vansprange, 15, died Friday morning from injuries sustained being struck by a car while running across a busy road to catch a bus near the Watermark Country Club in the 5000 block of Cascade Road SE, near Spaulding Avenue. The teenager's father was driving a car eastbound on Cascade at around 7:15 a.m. when he pulled into the left-turn lane and stopped to let his son out so that he could walk to a nearby bus stop.

Thursday, January 15, 2015It was about 3:00pm when a bus stopped on 108th Street to drop off a student was rear-ended by an SUV, which sent the bus driver and two students on the bus to the hospital with complaints of neck and back pain.The driver of the SUV has been arrested, and investigators say that the car smelled of marijuana and that the driver admitted to smoking it in the last 24 hours.

Wednesday, December 10, 2014Two teens were injured when a school bus they were riding drove off a road, striking a tree. The accident reportedly occured near Dagget Road and Tamarack Road, northwest of Howard City. The exact conditions of the students have not been released, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The students were an 11th-grade girl and an 8th-grade boy, and their names have not yet been released. Weather conditions are considered a contributing factor in this accident.

Thursday, February 6, 2014Five elementary school students were hospitalized after one school bus rear-ended another in Washtenaw County this morning.
The Lincoln Consolidated Schools buses crashed at Whittaker and Bemis roads in Augusta Township about 8:42 a.m., according to a spokesman for the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office.
