Heavy rain was falling when 34-year-old Amy Harris was driving west on M-46 at about 3:30 p.m., and she began to enter the oncoming lane. Harris then collided with an eastbound car driven by Larry Moore, 73, leaving her and Larry's wife Janice Moore, 70, dead at the scene. Larry was seriously injured and brought to the hospital. Alcohol was not believed to be a factor, with the poor weather and road conditions thought to be probable contributors.
