Her 8-year-old son was in the car. Fortunately they were both wearing their seatbelts, which police believe saved their lives.

Authorities have said an eastbound pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Nicholas Gareffi of Vineland crossed the center lane, struck a westbound box truck, then hit the car in which Cooke was a passenger. The drivers of the other two vehicles escaped serious injury.
