Phillips was driving with her blood-alcohol limit at four times the legal level when she lost control of her car. The car knocked over two utility poles, overturned, and landed upside down in a tree. Her 8-year-old son was in the car. Fortunately they were both wearing their seatbelts, which police believe saved their lives.

Phillips pleaded guilty to assault by auto and driving while intoxicated charges. She could face up to 18 months in jail on the fourth-degree assault charge.

A teenage soccer player is on life support following a crash Saturday morning on Route 40 in Hamilton Township. Authorities have said an eastbound pickup truck driven by 39-year-old Nicholas Gareffi of Vineland crossed the center lane, struck a westbound box truck, then hit the car in which Cooke was a passenger. The drivers of the other two vehicles escaped serious injury.

Police say 28 New Jersey students have been taken to a hospital as a precaution after their school bus was involved in a minor crash. North Brunswick Police Lt. Gina Braconi says the accident happened on Route 130 around 8 a.m. Wednesday. She says that all 28 students on board were taken for checkups after some complained of pain. None have injuries that are considered life-threatening. Braconi says the students were from North Brunswick but she's not sure which school.

A woman and two children were hospitalized after being struck by an alleged hit-and-run driver in South Jersey this morning. After striking the trio at Line Street and S 5th Street in Camden, the driver of the other car fled, according to Camden County Police. The unidentified woman and the children were taken to Cooper University Hospital to be check out after they complained of pain, according to authorities. Police didn't reveal the extent of the victims' injuries. The victims were put in an ambulance and as police investigated a flipped over vehicle.

Six students were injured when a school bus collided with a car in Gloucester Township, New Jersey Tuesday morning. Police responded around 7:00 a.m. to Berlin Cross Keys Road at the Atlantic City Expressway for a report of a crash involving a school bus. Arriving officers found that the school bus driver and six students on the bus were injured in the incident. Five of the injured students and the bus driver were transported to a local hospital for evaluation. All the injured are said to be minor.

Authorities say a six-year-old boy has died after being struck by a school bus Monday morning. Edmond Bock IV was hit shortly before 8:30 a.m. on Aqua Lane in Waterford’s Atco section. According to the Camden County Prosecutor’s office, the bus was stopped to pick up other children when the victim began walking around the front of the vehicle. When the school bus began moving again, it fatally struck the first grader. An investigation is underway to determine if there was anything criminal in the child’s death.

A young boy was killed and a man was injured when their car struck a tree on a southern New Jersey roadway. But it’s still not clear what caused the crash, which occurred shortly after 9 p.m. Saturday in Mullica Township. Police in the Atlantic County community say 10-year-old township resident Jaiden Ohnemuller-Muskett was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. He had been sitting in the car’s rear passenger seat.
