A 23-year-old Oklahoma man is dead after a vehicle he was in swerved to avoid hitting a dog east of Springer, NM, according to the New Mexico State Police.

A State Police spokesman said the vehicle, which was carrying four people, rolled over through a steel pipe and cable fence before coming to a stop on its wheels, killing 23-year-old David Michael Hamilton of Newcastle, Okla. David Hamilton was not wearing his seat belt, and State Police say he was ejected from the car.
