Portland, OROne person killed when a car smashed into a concrete pillar in Northeast Portland just before 3 a.m. Sunday. The single car crash occurred on Northeast Columbia Boulevard at 33rd Avenue. The passenger was thrown from the vehicle and died at crash site. The driver was taken to a hospital where they are expected to recover. The reason for the car striking the large concrete pillar under the 33rd Avenue overpass is unclear. Names of the victims involved have not been released.

Wednesday, March 26, 2014Alcohol appears to have played a role in a fatal wrong-way two-car accident that occurred early Thursday on Interstate 5 near Medford.
Oregon State Police is asking witnesses to come forward in connection with the crash, which took place around 3:15 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-5 about five miles south of Medford.
OSP, Jackson County Sheriff's Office, local fire and medical personnel, and ODOT were dispatched to milepost 24, said Lieutenant Gregg Hastings, an OSP spokesman.

Portland, ORAn Oregon City woman died after she was ejected out of a friend's car that was turning onto a street in Gresham Wednesday night, police said.
Peggy J. Jennen, 73, died at the scene just after 11:30 p.m., according to the Gresham Police Department. Investigators said her friend, Lisa A. Wilson, 52, of Troutdale, was driving drunk when she turned from westbound NW Division Street to southbound NW Bella Vista Place and Jennen fell out of the car.
