It was about 1:40am, when a pickup truck driven by Simmons on Indian Creek Road departed the roadway and ran into a culvert, then a tree. Loftis, who was a passenger in the pickup truck, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Simmons was hospitalized with injuries of unknown severity. No other details are available, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Robert Sweet Jr. was driving on Cochran’s Mills Road in Burrell Township, Armstrong County when his 1998 Ford Expedition hit a tree stump, and the vehicle to rolled twice. Sweet was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.

Four men were in a Honda Civic driven by Michael McGinnis of Pittsburgh on State Route 949 in Spring Creek Township at around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when the driver lost control and left the roadway. The vehicle then went airborn over an embankment, hitting several trees before finally coming to rest on its roof. One passenger, Daniel McGinnis of Pittsburgh, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another passenger, Sean Collins, 44, of Cranberry Township, suffered major injuries.
