It was about 1:30 p.m. when a raft carrying six people operated by Sheri Griffith River Expeditions was on the Colorado River and overturned due to rough conditions at Funnel Falls. Moments later, a private raft carrying three people also overturned at the same place. A total of eight people were thrown into the water, with only the rower of the private raft able to remain in the boat. Everyone except Charles McLynch, 50, who was in the commercial raft, and Adam Ericksen, 27, who was in the private raft, managed to get out of the water and back into the boats.

A semi truck and trailer rolled off Interstate 80 Thursday afternoon in Salt Lake County. The westbound semi rolled off the right side of the interstate about 5:30 p.m. near the border between Salt Lake and Tooele counties, according to Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Todd Royce. Royce did not know of any injuries. According to Royce, traffic delays were minimal due to the way the trailer slide off the road. The accident was cleared by 10 p.m. Royce added that the trailer most likely did not open during the accident.
