Wausau-Rhinelander, WIRonald Jay Ebert, 55, of St. Paul was driving a semi-truck southbound on Highway E at about noon when he came to the intersection with Highway 48 in McKinley Township. Ebert said that he braked for the intersection, but a mechanical problem caused the brakes to fail, and he hit a 2004 Chevrolet pickup that was westbound on Highway 48. Allan Seierstad of Cumberland, Wisconsin, was driving, and Ricky Gauthier of Radisson, Wisconsin, was his passenger.

Milwaukee, WIThe incident occurred near Clement Avenue School. Authorities say there may have been a mechanical issue with the vehicle that kept the driver from stopping before the crosswalk. The students were transported by ambulance with what appear to be minor injuries.
