Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys

The Nebraska Association of Trial Attorneys is dedicated to the improvement of the trial practice, and preservation of the jury system. The Association provides quality continuing legal education and is active in the legislative process insofar as it impacts upon justice in Nebraska. The membership of the Association is open to all lawyers,and law students. The resources of the Association are committed to providing advocacy-related services to members and sponsoring, supporting or opposing legislation as needed to protect rights of citizens to recover for wrongs inflicted upon them and maintaining the integrity of the legal system.

Volunteer Lawyers Project - Nebraska State Bar Association

The Nebraska State Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project was created to provide legal assistance to person who cannot afford to hire an attorney, nor can they receive assistance through the federally legal service program in the state. VLP was created in the early 1980, while our method intake and delivery of services has changed over the years, our mission has not. VLP works to ensure that all citizens have access to the legal system. VLP can only succeed with the willingness of volunteers to donate their time and their money.

Nebraska Judicial System

The Constitution of the State of Nebraska distributes the judicial power of the state among the Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, ­district courts, and county courts.  All state courts operate under the administrative direction of the Supreme Court.  In addition to the courts created by the Constitution, the Nebraska judicial system has two other courts – the separate juvenile courts located in Douglas, Lancaster, and Sarpy Counties, and a statewide Workers’ Compensation Court.

The Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) is Nebraska's only statewide full-service law enforcement agency. Serving Nebraska since 1937, NSP officers perform a wide variety of duties. Those duties include working with communities to improve public safety; enforcing traffic, criminal and drug laws; investigating crimes, as well as enforcing the laws and federal regulations pertaining to commercial motor carriers.
