Nashville, TNA child has died and his mother was hurt in a hit-and-run collision allegedly caused by a driver under the influence of alcohol or drugs in the westbound lanes of Interstate 24 in Smyrna on Thursday afternoon.
The crash was reported about 1:30 p.m. at mile marker 66, near Sam Ridley Parkway. The child, his mother and his sister were outside their car changing a flat tire when they were struck.
The suspected driver, identified as 33-year-old Tina L. Wilson, kept driving in a Chevrolet Cavalier after the collision, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol.

Knoxville, TNAn accident along Highway 411 Saturday night leaves one woman dead and three children and another person injured.
According to the Blount County Sheriff's Office, authorities received a call around 6:44 p.m. near Ridgeway Trail on Highway 411.
Deputies say Amanda Campbell, 29, of Maryville was traveling southbound on U.S. Highway 411 in a 1996 GMC Jimmy when she stopped in the fast lane due to a flat tire.
Campbell then left the vehicle to try and flag down someone for assistance.
