36-year-old Dana Guyther was driving a cargo van west on West 29th Street when she allegedly ran a red light at the intersection with North Garfield Avenue at about 10:00 a.m. She collided with a Sugar Valley Estates bus driven by Tamara Stewart, 59, and caused it to turn onto it's side. It was then that bystander Brent McNair rushed to the overturned van and broke the rear window so that he could begin getting the six injured elderly passengers out of the vehicle. McNair removed five of the six passengers before authorities arrived.

A pedestrian, identified as Myurie Ausler, was at Rainier Avenue South and South Massachusetts Street when she was struck by a pickup truck, the driver of which did not stop at the red light. As Ausler was lying in the roadway, unable to move, she says she saw the pickup truck slow down and hesitate before eventually driving away. Two good Samaritans finally helped her out of the street and called 911 to get her medical attention.
