Just after 1:00 p.m., witnesses say that traffic slowed on southbound I-75 due to construction down the road. Apparently, the driver of a FedEx tractor-trailer, identified as 41-year-old Toby Caudill, did not slow down fast enough and rear-ended a truck in front of him, causing a chain-reaction crash that affected a total of six semi-trucks and one passenger vehicle. Caudill was killed in the collision. The passenger vehicle was crushed between two trucks, and its driver, identified as Jonathan Roark, 34, was also pronounced dead.
