At about 3:00 pm, a man hijacked a woman's car, struck her with it, and fled the scene, which lead police to pursue the man. Eventually, the man crashed the vehicle and was detained, and the woman who was hit was hospitalized, but only sustained non-life threatening injuries.

Jeremy Bustos dies and an Avondale police officer is in critical condition after Bustos joyrides a stolen truck into a collision with a police car at 111th Avenue and Durango Street in Avondale, Arizona.  Bustos is alleged to have assaulted a city employee and stolen their truck, joyriding it into a police chase that ended with Bustos carying a machette and a pocket knife, refusing to cooperate and being shot twice by police. The officer in the car that Bustos struck had to be extracted and was airlifted to St. Joseph Hospital in critical condition.
