One woman died and three other people were injured in a four-vehicle crash Monday morning. Cynthia Simmons, 61, of Blytheville was killed in the accident on Interstate 55 at the 67 mile marker just after 4:30 a.m. Latonya Harvey of Blytheville lost control on ice while trying to stop on a bridge. The vehicle Simmons was driving hit Harvey's vehicle and spun onto the shoulder. Another driver, Avery Jackson of Blytheville, also lost control but managed to stop in the right lane. Anthony Green of Sikeston, MO struck Jackson's vehicle and then hit Simmons.

Sean Jamal Blackmon, 28, surrendered to police on charges following the October 15th, 2014 hit-and-run death of Marcus Jones on Lexington Avenue in Jackson, Tennessee. Blackmon allegedly ran a stop sign then hit Jones' car, killing him.

A small plane crashed east of Chattanooga on Wednesday, killing the pilot. The single-engine plane went down in a field in Ooltewah shortly after 2 p.m. The pilot was the only person on board. The plane took off from Knoxville and was headed to Jackson.

The names of two men who were involved in a crash on Interstate 81 yesterday, which resulted in one of them being killed, have been released.

James C. Hoover, 54, Stone Park, Illinois, received fatal injuries after being ejected. His passenger, Jackson David Meadows, 45, Knoxville, received non-life threatening injuries.

A 25-year-old man was killed when his car left the interstate early Friday morning, police said.

Just after 3 a.m., Xavier Ware was heading westbound on Interstate 240 west of Jackson when his 2000 Jeep Cherokee veered off the roadway. The Cherokee then struck a guardrail before continuing on and hitting a utility pole. The Cherokee then rolled over, police said.

Paramedics pronounced Ware dead at the scene.

The band director at a high school in Jackson suffered fatal injuries in a crash with a school bus. Police said Michael Congiardo's car ran a red light and hit the bus Friday afternoon. He was leaving a school function at Madison Academic Magnet High School, where he is the band director. A man who saw Congiardo before the crash said the car also hit a fence. "I asked him if he was all right," said Dr. Keith Taylor, a Jackson physician. "He told me he was, and then he shot down the street and ran a red light."

A Thursday morning wreck in Phillips County left a toddler dead and three other people hurt. Dante Knight, 21, was driving a 2000 Volkswagen east on Arkansas 44 in Lake View about 12:06 a.m. when he failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree, according to an Arkansas State Police accident report. Knight and his three passengers — Samantha Jackson, 22; Dante Knight Jr., who turned 1 year old Wednesday; and Anastasia Paige, 2 — were taken to Helena Regional Medical Center with injuries, state police said. Paige was pronounced dead at 1:45 a.m. by Coroner Tommy Hunt, according to the report.
