James C. Hoover, 54, killed and Jackson David Meadows, 45, injured in single car accident on Interstate 81 on June 10.
Names released of men involved in I-81 crash on Monday
The names of two men who were involved in a crash on Interstate 81 yesterday, which resulted in one of them being killed, have been released.
James C. Hoover, 54, Stone Park, Illinois, received fatal injuries after being ejected. His passenger, Jackson David Meadows, 45, Knoxville, received non-life threatening injuries.
According to an investigation done by the Kingsport Police Patrol and Traffic Units, a red 1992 Geo Tracker was travelling northbound on I-81 around mile marker 64.8 when for unknown reason, the car veered off the left side of the road into the median. When Hoover tried to get the Tracker back on the road, he overcorrected, which sent the vehicle sideways.
The car then repeatedly rolled down the interstate, ejecting Hoover. According to witnesses, Meadows was able to crawl out of the vehicle. Hoover was transported by Wellmont One helicopter to Holston Valley Medical Center, where he later died. Meadows was transported to Bristol Regional Medical Center.
