When Mark Ross found out his teenage sister, 15-year-old Eliza Fletcher, had been killed in car crash, he wanted to be with his mother as soon as possible.

But without a vehicle, Ross needed a ride from where he was in Indiana back to Detroit. After convincing a friend to drive, they took off just after 3 a.m. Sunday. According to a Facebook post Ross wrote, they were speeding through Ohio when red and blue lights flashed behind them.

V8 Supercars drivers Rick Kelly and Tim Blanchard visited Punchbowl Primary School today and shared some road safety tips as part of a V8 Supersafe Presentation.

Kelly and Blanchard made the trip to the Launceston primary school to highlight the importance of being a safe passenger ahead of the Easter long weekend.

The group of 120 students, in grades four to six, were also given an insight into being a racing car driver, and what it takes to drive door-to-door at 300km/h.

There's really no excuse for not wearing a helmet while biking, but here is a list of ones I've used: 1) I don't have one. 2) I would have to buy one in order to have one. 3) I only ride on side streets and alleys so it's unlikely that I'll get hit by a car. 4) I'm dumb.
