A 24-year-old Lakeport man was killed Thursday after crashing on Highway 20 in Clear Lake Oaks. He had been driving fast on the highway at about 1 a.m. when he exited of the road, hit a speed limit sign and then a power pole. The SUV flipped, then hit a chain link fence. The driver was trapped in the overturned vehicle. He was pronounced deceased at the crash site.

The two people were riding in a 2004 Explorer east on Highway 20 when the vehicle left the roadway to the right, and struck a cement barrier. They were arilifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where both later died. The accident is still under investigation. A portion of the highway was shut down while emergency crews worked.

Jeremy Dean Martin was driving a car on Cypress Creek Bridge when the car went off the bridge and into the creek. Martin was able to escape the car but  Johnathon Heath Atkisson, a passenger, was trapped inside. Emergency responders were not able to rescue Atkisson in time to save his life. Investigators say thaat Martin was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

A head-on collision in Mayes County killed two Pryor people Thursday night on Highway 20 just west of Salina at 7:19 p.m. A 2005 Nissan driven by Christina Langley. 35, was traveling west in the eastbound lanes when her car collided with an eastbound Honda Accord, driven by Jonathan Parsons, 18. Langley was pronounced deceased at the crash site, and Parson was transported to a Pryor hospital where he was pronounced dead. The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Just before 10:00pm, a 45-year-old man driving on Highway 20 crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a vehicle driven by an 18-year-old man head-on. Both drivers sustained multiple fractures in the collision, but the 45-year-old man was knocked unconsious and had injuries that were considered life-threatening, while the 18-year-old man was conscious but still in serious condition. We will update this accident as more information is released.

Marieo Goodloe was driving his jeep on Highway 20 when he drove off the roadway. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected as the vehile overturned. He is reported dead. More information will be posted as it is released.

Two St. Helens women killed Friday in a three-car pileup just east of Albany have been identified as Elizabeth M. Maye and Amanda J. Maye-Strawn. They were driving east on Highway 20 near Milepost 2 when Maye's 2013 Nissan Versa slowed down to make a left turn onto Goldfish Farm Road. The Nissan was struck from behind by a 1998 Dodge pickup driven by Isaiah Z. Kaneaster, 18, of Scio, and then struck head-on by a westbound 2003 Honda Odyssey. Maye, 45, and Maye-Strawn, 42, were pronounced dead at the scene. It is not confirmed at this point whether the women are related.

Sargent was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident occurred at 6:18 p.m., two miles north of Cusick. The cause is still under investigation, the Washington State Patol said.

Illinois State Police say Roger Hein, 56, crashed into a tree around 8:00 a.m. Tuesday between Stockton and Lena on Highway 20. Investigators say early reports show he may have suffered some kind of medical attack before the crash. Police are still trying to figure out what went wrong. The highway was closed for nearly ten hours.

UPDATE: A busy Stateline highway is expected to re-open soon. Police say a semi-truck driver is killed after slamming into a tree.
All lanes on U.S. Route 20 between Stockton and Lena have been closed for nearly eight hours.

Three people were killed and two others injured in an early morning crash Friday on Highway 20 in Skagit County. The two car head-on crash happened around 5:10 a.m. near Hamilton Cemetery Rd E in Sedro-Woolley. The dead were identified as Frederick Brand, 65, of Concrete; Nicole A. Washington, 23, of Sedro-Wooley; and Megan L. Brown, 21, of Bellingham. The injured - Alfredo Navarro Jr., 19, of Mount Vernon, and Quinnton A. Baxter, 22, of Burlington — were airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
