The driver of an SUV died after losing control of his vehicle, rolling it and being ejected while driving at high speed across several lanes of southbound I-75 at University Avenue in Atlanta, Georgia.  Two passengers were critically injured and taken to the hospital.  The investigation is ongoing.

Two people killed in a fiery crash after an 18-wheeler rear-ended their stopped or slow moving vehicle on Interstate 285 in Atlanta, GA and the car burst into flames.

A crash on Georgia 400 claimed the life of a member of Governor Nathan Deal's re-election campaign. Mack Burgess, 25, died in the accident Tuesday afternoon on Ga. 400 northbound at Interstate 285. Burgess was a field staffer for the Georgia Republican party. Burgess graduated from Centennial High School in 2008 and from the University of Tennessee in 2012, where he was the president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. Deal's opponent Jason Carter issued the following statement late Tuesday afternoon: “Kate and I are tremendously saddened to hear of the loss of Mack Burgess.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, Juan Ocompto, 18, was killed after being ejected from the vehicle. Ocompto died at the scene. GSP officials say the driver was going too fast for conditions when he lost control and the 2002 Ford Explorer overturned. Four people were riding in the vehicle.

Brenda Travis was in the crosswalk when she was hit by the bus. Leroy Brown said that he sounded his horn but the pedestrian was distracted by her cellphone.  Atlanta police said Brown was traveling at a speed at which he should have been able to slow down, and he was charged with failure to yield to pedestrian and homicide by vehicle, 2nd degree, both misdemeanors.

A motorcycle passenger killed in a Sunday morning accident has been identified as Ellie Morris, according to Fulton County Medical Examiner's office.

Morris, 33, was from the metro Atlanta area.

According to Atlanta police, Jessica Johnson was driving on the southbound side of the I-75/85 connector and tried to get in the left lane to get on to I-20.

Johnson's Hyundai Sonata hit the back of the motorcycle and Morris was a passenger. Morris fell off and was hit by Johnson's car.

A 55-year-old man from Peachtree City was killed in a wreck in Coweta County on Saturday night.

Michael Allen Naber was driving southbound on Fischer Road around 9:55 p.m. when a northbound vehicle driven by Robert Charles Diaz entered his path and there was a collision, the Georgia State Patrol said. Naber died at the scene.

Diaz, 34, of Sharpsburg, was transported to Atlanta Medical Center. There was no immediate word on his condition.

The investigation into the crash is continuing and the report has not been completed, the GSP said.

A 24-year-old woman faces charges after police say she was driving a vehicle that hit and killed a man on Interstate 285 in Atlanta.

Police say a man was walking in the emergency lane of the interstate around 4:45 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a vehicle. Police say Tabatha Williams was the driver of the vehicle.

Williams faces charges of first-degree vehicular homicide, DUI and reckless driving. She was being held in the Fulton County jail and it wasn't immediately clear whether she had a lawyer.

A passenger in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.
