Motorcyclist hit and killed by alleged drunk driver

A motorcycle passenger killed in a Sunday morning accident has been identified as Ellie Morris, according to Fulton County Medical Examiner's office.

Morris, 33, was from the metro Atlanta area.

According to Atlanta police, Jessica Johnson was driving on the southbound side of the I-75/85 connector and tried to get in the left lane to get on to I-20.

Johnson's Hyundai Sonata hit the back of the motorcycle and Morris was a passenger. Morris fell off and was hit by Johnson's car.

The driver of the bike hit the median and then went to the car and started calling Morris' name. Police said the motorcycle driver then fled the scene.

Officers performed a field sobriety test on Johnson. According to police, she blew a .209 during the breathalyzer test. More than twice the legal limit.

Johnson was taken to the Fulton County Jail. Her charges include first degree vehicular homicide, DUI alcohol and others.

Police later arrested the motorcycle driver at Grady Memorial Hospital. They identify him as 37-year-old Saahir Salahuddin. His charges include first degree vehicular homicide, hit and run, and theft by receiving a stolen auto.
