A 24-year-old man died early Monday morning in a traffic crash in west Houston.
The wreck happened about 1:30 a.m. at Westheimer and Dairy Ashford, according to the Houston Police Department.
Police said the driver of a Honda Civic was traveling eastbound on Westheimer when he failed to stop at a red light and slammed into a Toyota Scion that was traveling northbound on South Dairy Ashford.
The driver of the Toyota died at the scene.
Police said the Honda driver was suspected of driving impaired at the time of the wreck. He was taken into custody.
A Clifton man died early Monday after he lost control of his car and it crashed in the Oakton area, Fairfax County police said.
Trung Hieu Tran, 24, was traveling east on Jermantown Road near Borge Street around 1:35 a.m. when he approached a curve, failed to negotiate it and then lost control of his Acura RSX Coupe, police said.
The car ran across a grass median and struck a tree, which caused the vehicle to spin and hit a second tree, police said. Tran was transported to a hospital, where he later died.
Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
