Man killed in South Side accident Monday ID'd

The man run over by a woman who sped off after a police officer pulled her over Monday afternoon on the South Side has been identified as Jimmy Medrano, 49.

Medrano was pronounced dead after 4 p.m. on Hackberry Street, according to the Bexar County Medical Examiner's office. His death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries sustained in the crash, according to the medical examiner.

Medrano was hit by Roxanne Campa, 31, who sped off in a Toyota Avalon from a traffic stop, according to police. Campa lost control, ran off the road and struck Medrano, who was standing on the sidewalk near South Hackberry Street and Fair Avenue, according to police.

Campa has been charged with murder and theft of a motor vehicle. She also was served with an outstanding felony warrant for a drug violation, for which she is being held without bail. Bond for the newer charges totals $25,000.
