A Jefferson County sheriff's deputy is fighting for his life after a Tuesday-night ATV crash. Deputy Brad Perry was listed in critical condition at UAB Hospital Wednesday afternoon, according to a hospital spokesman. Perry is a youth services investigator in the Bessemer Cutoff. He and a female deputy were off duty and riding an ATV on a mine road off Mud Creek Road when the ATV hit a hole or ditch and flipped, a Jefferson County sheriff's said. Perry suffered a head injury, and has not regained consciousness since the accident. The female deputy was not hurt.
